EN 1.4122 - X39CrMo17-1

EN 1.4122 stainless steel is a martensitic grade, which can be strengthened through heat treatment. This grade is presented as either 1.4122 or X39CrMo17-1, according to EN standard. EN 1.4122 is typically produced under a QT750 heat treatment condition (QT denoting quenched and tempered, and 750 indicating a minimum tensile strength of 750 MPA).

Essential details

EN 1.4122 stainless steel grade finds application in the food industry and medical industry. The 1.4122 grade is used for surgical instruments like knives, cutlery and scalpel blades. It is also utilized in plastic moulds where wear resistance is necessary like slide rails, injection nozzles and extrusion screws.

EN 1.4122 stainless steel strip can also be used to manufacture tools that are meant to cut wood or metal like engraving and cutting tools, turning tools and milling cutters.
