Description

Type 302 Stainless Steel is a popular austenitic and non-magnetic stainless steel that is known for its toughness and ductility.  Although very similar to 304 Stainless Steel, Type 302 has more carbon and a good record of corrosion resistance. Though it does have a tendency to work hard, this can be overcome by slow speeds and high feeds.

To be considered Type 302, a stainless steel must be composed of the following:

• Cr 17-19%
• Ni 8-10%
• Mn 2%
• Si 1%
• C 0.15%
• S 0.03%
• P 0.045%
