Description

The second most common grade after 304 is Type 316 Stainless Steel.  Type 316 is a popular chromium, nickel, molybdenum-bearing stainless steel grade. Though it is often referred to as marine-grade stainless steel, it is in fact not resistant to seawater.

Type 316 is known for its corrosion resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments.
