Stainless Steel Alloy 255 is a solid-strength alloy that offers high strength and outstanding wear resistance. Also sold under the brand name of Ferralium Alloy 255, this cost-effective alloy has a number of beneficial characteristics including:

• Resistance to corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride-stress corrosion cracking
• High strength-to-weight ratio

• Over twice the mechanical strength of regular stainless steels such as Alloy 20
• Good fabricability

In order to be labeled as Stainless Steel Alloy 255, an alloy must contain the following chemical composition:

• Cr 24-27.0%
• Ni 4.5-6.5%
• Mo 2.9-3.9%
• Cu 1.5-2.5%
• Mn 1.5% max
• Si 1.0% max
