ASTM 441 - EN 1.4509 is a 18% chromium ferritic stainless steel, lacking nickel, specifically developed for exhaust systems; exhibiting excellent corrosion resistance and strong temperature resistance. Outstanding corrosion resistance, formability and weldability make ASTM 441 - EN 1.4509 a suitable substitute. Plus, this steel can be available with many surface finishes.

Essential details

Grade 1.4509 | X2CrTiNb18 is well suited for cold forming, e.g. bending, flanging and deep drawing, and is easily weldable by all methods except gas welding. It is used for silencer and exhaust gas detoxification systems in motor vehicles. In addition, the AISI 441 has good corrosion resistance to the stresses occurring in the exhaust system.
